Important Procedures
What you need to know!
Attendance is Vital!
Please remember to call in your child’s absence as soon as possible (979-8333). After 10 days any un-cleared absences become unexcused absences.
Illnesses-The district allows 10 excused sick days without verification of illness from a medical professional or school employee. A letter will be mailed after 5 days reminding parents of the ten-day rule. At ten days, a second letter requiring verification of illness (doctor’s note) will be mailed. Without verification, absences after 10 days will be considered unexcused. (If your child is under medical care, it is best to provide the verification of illness before it is required.)
Short Term Independent Studies-If a child will be out of school for five or more days for an unexcused absence, parents need to contact the office to inquire about an independent study contract at least two weeks (10 school days) in advance of the absence. Requests originate from the office with the principal, not the teacher.
Tardies-It is important that students arrive at school on time. It is difficult for a child to come into the classroom late. They miss important instruction, and it also draws unwanted attention to them when they come into the classroom after the other students. If a student is more than 30 minutes late, the tardy is an unexcused absence.
Traffic Procedures!
We do our very best to get students in their cars in a timely manner. Patience is key!
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
- Patience is key! Please be respectful of all staff and parent volunteers that are directing traffic. When one person does not follow the procedure, it creates confusion and frustration. Let's be examples to all of our beavers.
- The yellow curb lane closest to the school is for drop-off/pick-up only! Drivers may not park and leave their cars.
- If you need help getting your student out, please let one of our staff members know and we can help. Please do not get out of your vehicle.
- Pull ALL the way up WITHOUT moving ahead of any other cars.
- The driveway is a 5 MILE PER HOUR speed zone. Driving at a faster rate of speed endangers ALL of our students.
- When exiting the parking lot, you may turn left OR right.
Parking
Like most schools, our parking is very limited. If you would like to park, you have choices. 😀
- Visitor spots in our main lot
- On the street (NOT ON A RED CURB)
- Along the alley way that we share with the parks and rec
- The back lot by the park
- Please DO NOT park at Orangevale Park and walk over. This is not our parking lot and is for recreational park use only.
- Please DO NOT park or pull into the side lot by Discovery Club at arrival or dismissal. This lot is specifically for Discovery Club parents, After School Care Transportation, and staff.
- Please access our school and your vehicle by use of the crosswalk only.
- The spaces by the kitchen are for our kitchen staff. Please don't park there.
Volunteer Information
Volunteers are crucial to the success of Green Oaks School. Teachers and staff would not be able to offer the fabulous programs students and families enjoy without volunteer help!
There are so many ways to get involved. Everything from working in the classroom, driving on field trips, working from home on projects, and special events are just a few of the opportunities available.
